Glimpse into the furniture-making history of Czechoslovakia – a state that always ranked among the best-recognised manufacturers of furniture in all of Europe throughout the 20th Century. Here, the tradition of bentwood furniture making was developed; products made of metal tubing as well as the so-called Freischwinger style. A number of trademarks and names back-up these products – which still today, manage to make their mark at the international level. This lecture is in cooperation with the Tschechisches Zentrum München (The Czech Centre in Munich). A lecture with Martina Lehmannová, Curator of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and President of the Czech ICOM Committee.
