On 1st June, it was that time again: at the kick-off event at the Pinakothek der Moderne more than 130 participants – old and new partners, journalists, design-interested people and MCBW-fans – saw how the sixth munich creative business week (4-12th march) will present itself to an international public. The eagerly-awaited new motto is: Design Connects – The Smart Revolution. Design does not only connect people with products and new technology, design also revolutionizes – like our new Key Visual. The smart human is not only turned upside down, the new MCBW-color, based on the classic color of the revolution, lights also in a bright red.
In 2017 the MCBW will offer an even broader program and so the charisma of the design week will increase nationally and internationally. The focus topic reflects the further development of content and concepts. These are the matching five sub-themes: Smart People, Smart Objects, Smart City, Smart Economy and Smart Brands.
Of course, the MCBW 2017 offers a variety of highlights and creative ideas of a special kind. The Republic of Korea will be the sixth design week’s exclusive partner country. “For us the partnership with the Republic of Korea is of great importance as design is lived in an exemplary way in the country. We have maintained a close connection to the Republic of Korea through various visits to trade shows and conferences for years”, says Dr. Silke Claus. Apart from BMW, the MCBW was able to gain another important sponsor: Steelcase, the leading international manufacturer of office equipment and developer of space solutions is an example of innovative and sustainable design. An inspiring talk between Michael Held, Director Design Europe Asia Pacific at Steelcase and Dr. Silke Claus yesterday afternoon underlined perfectly what Guillaume Alvarez, Steelcase senior vice president Europe says: “We believe, bringing together creative people and swapping ideas are key for innovation. In our view that’s exactly what the design week represents and we are happy about this partnership with MCBW.”
