– Throwback MCBW 2017 –
Agricultural crops like wheat, apple trees and tomato plants are natural: they live and grow. At the same time, these plants are technically manipulated, they are designed. They are the result of selection and adaption to the requirements of humans over the centuries.
The BMBF German Ministry of Education and Research is funding a social scientific research project on “the language of biofacts” form 2015 to 2017. In a dialogue with the researchers, students of the Master’s courses of Industrial Design and Architecture at TUM developed an exhibition on the naturality and artificiality of agricultural crops. Issues concerned reached from different techniques used in the breeding and growing of the plants to consumption matters and intellectual property rights on organisms.
